The straight line is ungodly

What is common between a stage photo exhibition, excellent graphics, a private “Meditation”-collection and Hundertwasser? Right, nothing. Yet, it has an explanation, said Róbert Nátyi, the art director of REÖK: the Szeged Open-Air Festival celebrates its 80th birthday!

"There are no colours you can buy which have a feeling and a life. This is one of the secrets of my paintings."

Did you know that Friedrich Stowasser, a.k.a. Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser has not only designed buildings? The Reök-palace exhibits almost a hundred of the great Art Nouveau-architect’s pictures born in the 1960s – 1980s and a few instances of his stamps and porcelain. The artist masters and mixes exciting techniques and vivid images, yet, the house-motif frames most of his works. We can see his ultimate philosophy manifesting in these paintings. House is the mirror image of mankind, he claims.
Don't you feel a strong desire to get stuck in this Roundabout? :)
The exhibition made my day! It really is friedensreich (peaceful), feels like a fresh Regentag (day of rain), sometimes dunkelbunt (dark gaudy)….It’s Hundertwasser!

“Meditation Objects” is the title of another exhibition these days in the contemporary arts center that consists of pieces of the huge Bodnár-collection. Contemporary abstract (and not so abstract) artists from near and far provide us a mind blowing entertainment.

Stage, then and now

Almost 80 years passed between the stage images of the first Tragedy of Man at the open-air theater, 1933 (by György Buday graphic artist and wood engraver) & the stage snapshots by the best photographers of the popular port.hu website... Great contrast, the two!

Never have I seen so many items exhibited in the REÖK contemporary arts center, strung on a chain of associations. Take your time to go through it, contemplate on the ones you like and enjoy the spirit of Art Nouveau.
