Rainy saturday at Thealter. The corridor of the Old Synagogue gets crowded, many seek shelter from the rain. Tickets for mady-baby all sold out, they say. But I have mine already, so I get on the bus.
The bus turns into an airport, a plane, a little room in Ireland. The monodrama has three characters: Mady, her boyfriend Voicu and Bogdán. The young and naiv Mady moves to Ireland to her admired boyfriend. On the airport she meets Bogdán, the audiovisual artist, who will play an important role in her life later.
"Home... I am not at home. I don't feel like home either here or there. I am not home here and I am not home there. I won't be at home here or there."
Voicu turns Mady into a prostitute. She becomes a tool and a victim of the two men. €65 is what she gets for an hour, without blowjob. Is that a lot? What would you buy for your grandmother from that money?
An innocent person, who can be inlfuenced easily. She cannot stope giving love to everyone, may it be a hug or some nápolyi. I feel I want to help her, I want to give her something. Will you take me home? - she asks. Still, we cannot avoid the terrible end.
Do always the bad guys win? Her unselfish sacrifice makes us want to believe she goes to Heaven.
Sitting in a bus you forget about the "rules" of theater, the borders between stage and audience gets washed away. We are all part of the journey, locked in, we have a sommon faith now. The natural -- acting of Mady (Emília B. Borbély, Csiky Gergely Hungarian National Theater of Timisoara, Romania) makes it easy for us to interact. The result is something entertaining yet heartbreakingly tragic. One of the best things I have seen this year!
Othello, a waste fo time
Afternoon. Having fun with my interviews: Compagnie József Trefeli underwent my little game, a little religious debate with the Lábjegyzet Theater doesn't hurt, and it is always a pleasure to talk to the cameraman Olivér. Meanwhile, we can hear the energetic tunes of the diabolic violin player, Félix Lajkó. I would not have guessed it would be such a disappointment.
The show based on the Shakespeare drama was no less no more than a "correct" contemporary dance performance. Perfetly moving&nice dancers, minimalistic, yet multi-functional stage design, good music and a long, hot kiss. Yawn!
