This was the official opening ceremony of Thealter'11.

There was a huge interest in Pintér Béla and Company's Never Return Again. Tickets sold out two days before the performance, "standing tickets" for the lucky ones. I missed out on this one. I met the piano tuner, Zsófia Szamosi, who played also in Tuesday's docudrama and I could hear some intriguing melodies of the capitalist play.

Maybe next time the secret reveals.

I am sure a single word cannot destroy our relationship! (…) Today we walked again. He said he will break up with me because I am not normal. And he can only make out with somebody with whom he could envisage his future, common children. And he could not imagine our little half-gypsy children. So what should I do, if I like the normal Hungarian white guys? - saiys the teenage girl, who had bleached her skin, dyed her hair blond and put contact lenses to deceive his boyfriend – who happens to hate gypsies.

And so it started. With a docudrama.  Thealter’11/U21. It's true.

Some time ago I watched 5kettőnek (~5 for two) @ Alterra. Well, you need to be in an empty, meditative state of mind in order to fully enjoy the choreography of Dénes Döbrei and Henrietta Varga. Through the minimalistic motions and slow storyline, the naturalistic sounds draw your attention to little details.

The dance piece raises two important questions: 

What is in the box? How long does a leaking sack of water last?

This is the night when ANYTHING can happen – I used to iterate happily as a child. In fact, I still believe so...

As every year around Midsummer night, Hungary will celebrate the Long Night of Museums this weekend. Not only can you visit the exhibitions in extraordinary hours but you are also being entertained the whole evening: fashion show, folk dance, fire jugglers, concerts and workshops await you between 6 PM and 1 AM on the 25^th of June (Saturday).

Having recently complained about the poor supply of international bands at SZIN'11 (meaning merely N.O.H.A. ), the organisers quickly came up with some surprises. Apart from the already mentioned programmes, the event is now underpinned with some more international names: the French Canadian punk/rock band Simple Plan, the Belgian elecronic artist from Madrid, Jimmy Van M, the British breakbeat-DJ Hyper, the American r'n'b popstar Kelis and the beloved jamaican reggae/dancehall guy, Sean Paul will also visit the City of Sunshine.

Make every day children’s day! – says it. The puppet theater of Szeged and Subotica tried to make this wish come true – at least for a week. During the II. Festival of Children’s Theater in May puppets Serbia, Romania, Russia, Armenia, Germany, and such remote countries as Peru and Brazil invaded the city. Free of charge, all the children were welcome to the 10 different shows.

The Szegedi Ifjúsági Napok (Days of the Youth of Szeged, also known as SZIN) is probably Hungary’s oldest, still existing musical festival. It dates back to ‘68. 1968, an Olympic year. The times of youth protest in the West and political relief behind the iron curtain. The year when some British musicians decided to gang up for some good tunes. (Btw, later they became known as Deep Purple and Queen.) And nobody had heard of Woodstock when we already had our SZIN.
